Anna Sabine MP Calls for Urgent Action After Latest Incident at A361 Junction
Anna Sabine, MP for Frome and East Somerset, has written to Somerset Council calling for urgent action to improve safety at the A361 junction outside Frome, following another serious incident this week.
A multi-vehicle collision took place on Wednesday 15th April at the junction, adding to growing concerns about safety on what has become a well-known accident hotspot.
In her letter to Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Transport, Richard Wilkins, and road safety officer Nick Cowling, Ms Sabine highlighted the increasing number of incidents and the need for more decisive intervention.
Anna Sabine MP said:
“I am extremely concerned by the continued number of incidents at the A361 junction outside Frome. Yesterday’s multi-vehicle collision is yet another example of what is becoming an increasingly worrying pattern.
“This junction is clearly one of the most dangerous points on our local road network. While I recognise the steps that have already been taken to improve safety, it is clear that more must be done, and urgently, to protect drivers and other road users.”
In her letter, Ms Sabine called for further discussions on additional safety measures, including the potential installation of traffic lights at the junction.
She added:
“It is clear that more significant intervention is required to address the risks at this junction and prevent further incidents. I have asked to meet with the Councillors to explore what further measures can be taken, including traffic lights, to improve safety.”
Ms Sabine has previously campaigned for improved road safety across Frome and East Somerset, including on the A361/ A362 junction, and says she will continue to press for action until meaningful improvements are delivered.
