SUCCESS - heat returns to pool at Frome Leisure Centre
Thanks to pressure from local residents and Anna Sabine, Fusion installed a new boiler.
Since I was made aware of the boiler breaking at the pool, I have sought to engage extensively with the senior management to understand the issues and their mitigation plan. I have now received some updates regarding the boiler and short-term issues.
The installation of a new boiler seems to have been successful. Thank you to everyone who has been in touch with me. The pressure we put on Fusion seems to have worked.
They are crediting all cancelled lessons and continue to pay their contracted swim teachers. The proposed timeline should ensure that normal temperatures resume in time for school holidays and Fusion will enhance their ‘crash course’ holiday programme to offer additional learn to swim opportunities.
Whilst I welcome these reassurances to do with the current boiler situation, I still worry that many of the problems are not just short-term ones but will contribute to longer-term issues at Fusion.
In my response to Fusion, I underscored that parents have been in touch to say that they are not being communicated with regarding their direct debits and that they have not been getting their money back quickly enough to compensate for cancellations. The promised gym equipment has also not been installed, with no timeframe for when it can be expected.
I have asked, again, for Fusion to provide me with a clear action plan of how these issues are being resolved, with timescales, so I can provide reassurance to my constituents that service will improve.
I will of course update you once I have received this plan.
