Save the 174 evening bus service

First Bus is proposing to withdraw the 174 Wells–Bath early‑evening service from 5pm, starting from 1st April – giving less than two months’ notice. This is not acceptable and will significantly impact bus users, with no consultation and very little notice.

We call on Government and regulators to:

Make bus companies like First Bus explain and justify major service cuts before they happen.
Set clear national rules so bus services can’t be cut without proper oversight.
Check whether current bus funding is really protecting rural towns and communities.
Protect people’s ability to get to school, work, healthcare and other essential services.
Put passengers and communities first in national transport policy.
